Welcome to CouchDeck: Your smartphone is the remote, your TV is the canvas. CouchDeck bridges your phone and Android TV / Google TV device through local Wi-Fi to deliver seamless web browsing, media streaming, and couch-friendly controls without extra hardware.

Navigating web pages, typing searches, and controlling video players on modern smart TVs using traditional directional D-pad remotes is frustrating and tedious. CouchDeck was created to solve this problem by transforming any Android phone or tablet into an intuitive, low-latency trackpad, smart keyboard, and dedicated media controller for your big screen.

We believe in privacy-first, cloud-independent utilities: CouchDeck connects devices directly over your local home Wi-Fi network without requiring third-party accounts, remote tracking servers, or complex setups.

CouchDeck is a versatile dual-mode application designed for both TV displays and handheld companions:

📺 TV Screen Mode (Android TV / Google TV)

Runs on your smart TV or Android TV streaming box. Features a full-fledged web browser built on the secure Android System WebView, complete with full-screen media playback, customizable bookmarks, pop-up filtering, and real-time cursor rendering.

📱 Remote Control Mode (Mobile Companion)

Runs on your Android phone or tablet. Turns your screen into a fluid multi-touch trackpad, remote soft keyboard, media playback scrub bar, and virtual gamepad controller (W3C Gamepad API compatible).

  • Seamless Keyboard Typing: Type long web URLs, search queries, and passwords comfortably using your phone's native keyboard directly into your TV browser.
  • Universal Media Controller: Dedicated controls for Play/Pause, Rewind (-10s), Fast-Forward (+10s), Volume adjustment, Mute toggle, and Subtitle track selection (CC) for HTML5 video elements.
  • Secure Local Pairing: Connects quickly and securely via local TCP sockets protected by a 4-digit pairing PIN generated on your TV screen. No cloud relays, no internet dependence for pairing.
  • Privacy-Conscious Browsing: Quick-clear browsing history, cache, and cookies directly from your remote settings, plus optional Incognito private browsing mode.
  • Gamepad & Navigation Controls: Dedicated Back, Home, and D-pad controls along with virtual gamepad emulation for browser games.
